Supporting Pupils with SEND

Academic Tutors Surrey work closely with Local Authority AP frameworks to provide high-quality, tailored educational support for pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). We collaborate with local authority coordinators, schools, and families to ensure each pupil receives a personalised learning programme that aligns with their identified needs, outcomes, and provision specified in their EHCP.

Our tutors are carefully selected for their experience in supporting diverse learning needs, including SEND to deliver confidence and progress. We maintain clear communication with all stakeholders, provide regular progress reports, and adapt our strategies in response to ongoing reviews, ensuring that every pupil is supported holistically to achieve their educational and personal goals.

Local Authorities Ask

Below are some common questions we get asked by local authorities. If you cannot find the answer here feel free to contact us and we will be happy to help

We offer a full onboarding and assessment procedure, involving all stakeholders (the pupil, families, schools, case workers) to tailor support for all new pupils in order to meet the specific outcomes and support strategies outlined in each pupil’s EHCP. Our tutors adapt their teaching approach to suit individual learning needs, helping pupils make meaningful progress.

Many of our tutors have experience working with pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. They use patient, structured, and adaptable approaches to support engagement and confidence.

We provide lesson reports after every session and regular feedback on progress, including strengths, areas for development, and next steps. For schools and local authorities, we can offer more formal reports aligned with agreed outcomes.

All tutors undergo enhanced DBS checks and follow strict safeguarding procedures in line with current guidance. We maintain clear policies and ensure tutors understand their responsibilities when working with vulnerable pupils.

Our provision is highly flexible, allowing us to adjust session length, format, and approach as needs evolve. We work responsively to ensure continuity of support, even when circumstances change.

We maintain open communication with families, carers, case officers, schools, and other professionals involved in the pupil’s support. This collaborative approach helps ensure consistency and maximises the impact of tuition.
